What are DJI Goggles?

DJI Goggles are designed for FPV flying with DJI drones. They feature two ultra-high quality screens, long-range, low-lag wireless connectivity, and direct photo and video capture control. They also have an intelligent flight mode, including ActiveTrack, Tapfly, Terrain Follow, Cinematic Mode, and Tripod Mode, which creates a completely new flying dimension.

Furthermore, these goggles can provide 720p/60fps and close range 1080/30fps viewing with an incredibly low latency of just 110ms. You can connect four devices to DJI’s Mavic Pro simultaneously using DJI’s OcuSync wireless transmission system. The antennas integrated into the headband provide 360ᵒ coverage, ensuring a stable connection even if the drone is flying behind you.

1. High Resolution

DJI Goggles have a screen resolution of 1920×1080 divided into two screens (total 3840×1080), one for each eye, DJI which provide more than twice the number of pixels as a standard 2K single screen. When you view a 16:9 image, some areas are cut off altogether, leaving only a quarter of the available pixels. 

2. Optical Design

DJI Goggles have a beam splitter to display an image in front of each eye and polarization to prevent image overlap. This enables it to create actual Full HD 1920×1080 resolution per eye. When combined with the large aperture aspheric lens, an 85ᵒ field of view is created per eye for maximum immersion.

3. Connectivity

The OcuSync system in DJI Goggles enables you to connect up to four devices simultaneously to share a real-time experience with friends through their goggles or smart devices. No matter where you fly your drone, you can always rely on the stable connection with the drone because of the drone’s built-in antennas for a full 360ᵒ coverage.

4. Head Tracking

You can control both the drone and the camera tilt with your head movements in head tracking mode, just like remote controller sticks. To make the drone move left or right, you need to turn the head left or right and keep your head straight to stop turning. Only the Gimbal moves in the head tracking Gimbal mode with no effect on the yaw.

5. Intelligent Flight 

DJI Goggles complement DJI’s new Intelligent Flight Mode: Fixed-Wing Mode. The aircraft doesn’t turn left or right in this mode, but instead, it flies forward with enough rotational movement to simulate realistic flight. 

Combined with head tracking mode, you can control the DJI Mavic Pro drone with a head for an authentic flight experience. The Fixed-Wing Mode’s AR trajectory prediction feature makes using this mode in complex environments safer. Some of the other flight modes include Terrain follow, Active Track, TapFly, and Cinematic Mode.
